Hello Flightpath, I've just reviewed Richter's book on breitling. I failed to pick up on a model with the case features of this one, specifically the high shoulder crown protection. This in itself means nothing as breitling often made special limited editions for military units.

6B/234 Waltham (and other makers) watches were used during and after WW2 by the RAF, A2951 is the issue/serial number, the AF4140 marking looks like it was used by the SAAF (probably after WW2).
